Fire + Ice Hike

Join the Deschutes Land Trust, Daniele McKay, and Carol Moorehead for a hike through glacier-carved valleys and volcanic craters. We’ll start at the Metolius Preserve and make our way via the Lake Creek Trail to Suttle Lake and then on to Blue Lake. Stops along the way will explore how fiery volcanoes and glacial ice have shaped the Cascades, while we enjoy summer wildflowers. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event.

Hike Rating: This is a challenging ~12.5 mile hike on dirt roads and trails.

Route: This hike will start at the North Trailhead of the Metolius Preserve and will follow the Lake Creek Trail to Suttle Lake and beyond to Blue Lake. Terrain will be uneven at times.

Elevation gain/loss: This hike is challenging with 450′ of cumulative elevation gain/loss.
