SUMMARY:Nature Kids: Butterfly Ballet!
DESCRIPTION:Join the Deschutes Land Trust and Karen Walsh for Nature Kids! Get outside and explore the nature of Central Oregon on guided family nature walks just for kids ages 5-10. Kids and their families can explore\, imagine\, and grow through hands-on activities and experiences outside. Join us during June for a delightful butterfly ballet told through the eyes of newly emerged butterflies. Bring your colorful costumes. We’ll listen to spectacular music in the meadow for this enchanting performance. \nMeet other families\, learn more about the natural world around us\, and have fun! Offered on the second Wednesday and last Saturday of the month April-October at Land Trust Preserves and in Bend. Perfect for kids ages 5-10 with a grown-up in tow. Registration is helpful\, but not required. Registrants will receive important event details and directions leading up to the outing. Registration opens 1 month prior to the event. \nHike Rating: This is an easy for kids\, up to 1 mile walk. Distance will vary depending on age and ability.

SUMMARY:30th Anniversary Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join the Deschutes Land Trust\, Rika Ayotte\, and Maret Pajutee for a 30th anniversary walk at one of the Land Trust’s flagship Preserves: Indian Ford Meadow Preserve. We’ll enjoy a sunset walk to take in views of the mountains while listening to historic and poetic readings about the meadow—past and present. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event. \nHike Rating: This is an easy 1 mile walk along the Preserve trail and through a grassy meadow. \nRoute: This hike will start at the Indian Ford Meadow Preserve kiosk and follow gravel and dirt trails into a grassy meadow. Terrain will be uneven at times. \nElevation gain/loss: There is very little elevation gain/loss on this hike.
