You’ll take in the brilliance of Central Oregon’s night sky while locating constellations\, observing visible planets\, the moon\, and other celestial objects\, and listening to ancient stories about the stars. \nDark Sky Parties begin about a half hour after sunset. ​Stay after the one-hour tour to get a glimpse into the deep sky through a telescope that magnifies the naked eye by 350. Each group receives a sky map\, specialized to the month of viewing and binoculars to borrow. \nThe Party on the Full Moon focuses on our nearest celestial neighbor\, our Moon. You’ll hear an ancient story with the Moon as a main character\, and learn why our Moon is so critical to life on our planet. The Summer Solstice and Equinox Parties put a focus on the solstice/equinox with a special ancient story and facts about these pivotal nights of the year. DESCRIPTION:This weekly No-Limit Texas Hold ’em tournament has been going on upstairs at the Saloon since 2010. Players should show up Wednesdays between 5:15 and 5:25 to sign up with Pat upstairs before the dealing starts at 5:30. If you arrive late\, you can still buy in until 6:30. \nIt’s a $20 buy-in every Wednesday\, but to keep things interesting\, they go through the following rotation of different tournament rules: \n1st Wednesday of the month: Just one rebuy allowed before the 6:30 break. \n2nd Wednesday of the month: Unlimited rebuys until 6:30\, so the tournament might go a little later\, but usually there’s more prize money. \n3rd Wednesday of the month: Just one rebuy allowed before the 6:30 break. \nLast Wednesday of the month: It’s an additional $5 for “Bounty” play. You keep the $5 bounty from each player you knock out of the tournament.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Deschutes Land Trust and Carol Moorehead for a wildfire restoration tour at Rimrock Ranch. In August 2025\, the 23\,000 acre Flat Fire burned through Rimrock Ranch and several other Land Trust Preserves on Whychus Creek. Learn all about the fire impacts at Rimrock Ranch\, see how the Preserve is recovering\, and discover how post-fire restoration efforts are helping it along. We’ll also explore how the Preserve might evolve in the coming years as wildfire recovery is a multi-year process. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event. \nHike Rating: This is a moderate 1-2 mile hike on old roads. \nRoute: This hike will start in the parking area at Rimrock Ranch and follow dirt access roads. Terrain will be uneven at times. \nElevation gain/loss: There is moderate elevation gain/loss on this hike.

DESCRIPTION:This weekly No-Limit Texas Hold ’em tournament has been going on upstairs at the Saloon since 2010. Players should show up Wednesdays between 5:15 and 5:25 to sign up with Pat upstairs before the dealing starts at 5:30. If you arrive late\, you can still buy in until 6:30. \nIt’s a $20 buy-in every Wednesday\, but to keep things interesting\, they go through the following rotation of different tournament rules: \n1st Wednesday of the month: Just one rebuy allowed before the 6:30 break. \n2nd Wednesday of the month: Unlimited rebuys until 6:30\, so the tournament might go a little later\, but usually there’s more prize money. \n3rd Wednesday of the month: Just one rebuy allowed before the 6:30 break. \nLast Wednesday of the month: It’s an additional $5 for “Bounty” play. You keep the $5 bounty from each player you knock out of the tournament.

From ponderosa pine forest to lush creekside corridors\, the Metolius area boasts a unique combination of wetter plants from the west side of the Cascades along with the drier eastern Cascade vegetation. We’ll explore this fascinating transition zone while searching for wildflowers like lilies\, wild rose\, and columbine. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event. \nHike Rating: This is an easy 3 mile hike on Preserve trails. \nRoute: This hike will start at the North Trailhead of the Metolius Preserve and follow Preserve trails. Terrain will be uneven at times. \nElevation gain/loss: There is very little elevation gain/loss on this hike.
