DESCRIPTION:Guided Stargazing Under the New Moon at Lazy Z Ranch\nFriday\, September 11 at 8pm \nJoin Lazy Z Ranch for a special night of stargazing under the new moon as we celebrate the end of summer. After the hustle of the summer\, September is the perfect time to pause\, look up\, and reset for the coming autumn season. \nThis evening will be led by local naturalist and educator Liz Thaete\, who is one of the Lead Guides at Starshine and Lazy Z Ranch resident.. You’ll take in the brilliance of Central Oregon’s night sky while locating constellations and listening to an ancient story about the stars. You are invited to stay after the one hour night sky tour to view deep sky objects through a telescope. \nIf weather doesn’t permit us to stargaze on September 11th\, our contingency date is October 2 at 7:30PM. \n6:00 PM – Enjoy music in the Tasting Room by Hana Fleur as you sip a beverage and eat small plates.\n6:30 PM – Watch the sunset & meet your guide\, Liz\, in the tasting room\n7:30 PM – Check-in with Liz in the tasting room + find your spot on the lawn\n8:00-9:00 PM – Guided stargazing experience under the high desert sky\n9:00-9:30PM – Get a glimpse of the deep sky through a telescope \nSip your favorite Ranch beverage\, enjoy a small bite\, and marvel at the vastness above Lazy Z Ranch! A quiet\, awe-filled night rooted in land\, season\, and sky. We’d love to share it with you.

Steve and friends from the Sisters Astronomy Club will set up powerful telescopes and help you identify constellations\, planets\, and far-away galaxies. Explore astronomy and get a rare chance to enjoy the dark skies of this protected ranch. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event. \nHike Rating: This is an outing with minimal walking. \nRoute: The star party will occur adjacent to the parking area on a gravel road. You’ll take in the brilliance of Central Oregon’s night sky while gazing at our closest celestial neighbor\, our Moon\, as she rises above us. You’ll hear an ancient story with the Moon as a main character\, and learn why our Moon is so critical to life on our planet. \nStarshine will provide:• Skymaps for guests to take home• Red lights and binoculars to borrow \nWhat to bring:• A blanket or low chair for lounging on the lawn• Weather-appropriate layers for a cool desert night \nOptional\, but encouraged\n• If you have your own binoculars you are welcome to bring them• Headlamp with red light setting – this can help you to navigate the garden and view your star map\n• A sky viewing app on your phone\, recommended is SkyView Lite–its free! \nEvening Details5:30 PM – Bar opens + small plates available for purchase 7:00 PM – Check-in + find your spot on the lawn7:30-8:3o PM – Guided stargazing experience under the high desert sky \nSip wine\, beer\, or a non-alcoholic spritz\, enjoy a bite from the kitchen\, and marvel at the vastness above our fields. \nTickets: $25 per person($20 event + $5 non-refundable booking fee)Weather dependent: in case of cancellation\, we’ll refund $20 to each guest. \nA quiet\, awe-filled night rooted in land\, season\, and sky. DESCRIPTION:Join Starshine\, Explore Sisters\, and the Sisters Astronomy Club to marvel at our incredible universe in the gorgeous and convienent setting of downtown Sisters\, Oregon! Thanks to Explore Sisters\, you attend for free! You’ll take in the brilliance of Central Oregon’s night sky while locating constellations\, observing visible planets\, the moon\, and other celestial objects\, and listening to ancient stories about the stars. \nDark Sky Parties begin about a half hour after sunset. ​Stay after the one-hour tour to get a glimpse into the deep sky through a telescope that magnifies the naked eye by 350. Each group receives a sky map\, specialized to the month of viewing and binoculars to borrow. \nThe Party on the Full Moon focuses on our nearest celestial neighbor\, our Moon. You’ll hear an ancient story with the Moon as a main character\, and learn why our Moon is so critical to life on our planet. The Summer Solstice and Equinox Parties put a focus on the solstice/equinox with a special ancient story and facts about these pivotal nights of the year.
